In 2005, while deployed to Fallujah, Iraq with II MEF during Operation Iraqi Freedom, the extreme heat and harsh conditions wreaked havoc on my feet. Blisters and hot spots persisted, even with socks gifted by my friend Peter Menzies, a 60-year sock industry veteran.
I reached out to Peter, asking for a sock designed for desert climates. Within a month, he delivered the "Desert" boot sock—a game-changer that I shared with fellow Marines. Word spread, and soon Peter was fielding orders directly from the front lines.

When I got back stateside, Peter and I launched Covert Threads with a clear mission: to develop gear tough enough for the military and versatile enough for any battle, from deserts to jungles to mountains.
