Hard to explain. These feel coarse compared to the cushioned texture of the desert socks. Still trying to get used to them. Might keep them.

Bought 5 pairs back in 2013. Now mid '25 amd they finally were just too stretched out with only one sock having a hole in the calf area. Bought 6 to replace the 5. (In the National Guard, so they get worn one weekend a month/2weeks in a year. So not everyday heavy use, but enough abuse here and there.) The socks work, put lots of miles on these socks and I've always been comfortable.

Love these socks, they pair well with RAT boots plus do not dig into the calves.

Those socks carried me through that time, and kept going for years after. I eventually replaced them with another round of Rocks, and never looked back. I wore those socks until I retired. I have worn plenty of socks over the years, including the "Goliaths," and not a single one of the big name socks lasted near as long as these did. Leaving this review now, instead of then, because the last of my socks wore out...finally, and I decided to order more socks since I still wear them for hunting. This also applies to the ICE socks that I had for the same amount of time. Replacing those with the Wool Beast Heavy OTC. There is no comparison; Covert Threads makes the best socks.
